UV absorbance of the filling solutions of several dialyzers. Symbols closed square and open square denote the blood and dialysate sides, respectively. The ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer UV-1800 (Shimadzu Corporation) was used for the UV absorbance measurement. The wavelength (λ) for the measurement was set at 220 nm. In regard to the materials constituting the dialysis membranes, PSf, PEPA, and PMMA denote polysulfone, polyester polymer alloy, and polymethylmethacrylate, respectively. AC and gamma-ray indicate the sterilization method using an autoclave and gamma-ray irradiation, respectively
