A hypothetical dose-dependent relationship with small-solute clearance in PD patients [11]. Theoretically, patient survival and mortality have a dose-dependent relationship with small-solute clearance. Several cohort studies found that a higher dialysis dose was associated with better patient survival and fewer hospitalizations. Based on the results of those studies, DOQI Workgroup recommended a total weekly Kt/V of 2.0 as target for adequate PD.
