Distribution of detection and recognition threshold for salty taste in PD patients. Of the PD patients, 68% presented with a detection threshold above 0.8 mg/cm2, and 14% could not detect salty taste, even at the highest concentration level (1.6 mg/cm2). Eighty-two percent of the PD patients presented with a recognition threshold above 1.0 mg/cm2, and 55% could not recognize salty taste, even at the highest concentration level. The normal range of detection threshold is 0.6 mg/cm2 and that of recognition threshold is 0.8 mg/cm2
